After visiting the puffin colony on the small island of Lunga a couple of years ago with my son, we both completely fell in love with quirky little birds! They are so full of character, a little ungainly when attempting to deploy their landing gear and were fascinating to just lie on the grass for hours and watch.
 
Since then, I’ve always thought it would be lovely to create one or include them in a design somehow, and now the opportunity has come up!
Rheged Discovery Centre, nr Penrith will be launching a new exhibition in July 2026 entitled ‘The Brilliance of Birds’. As part of this, they have asked me to design some pieces to tie in, and we also have 2 bird themed workshops running, which have already sold out! So if you would like to get your hands on one of these beautiful suncatchers, this is now the only way to do so!
 
Made of mix of opaque lightly textured black glass, and complimenting translucent colours, this piece works just as beautifully in low/no light as it does handing in your window.
There is also the option of having him delivered with a small wooden stand if hanging space is limited.
 
Measuring approx 17 x 13cm, and created using the intricate copper foiling technique.
 
Please allow approx 6-8 weeks for delivery, as each piece is made to order and created alongside our larger commissions.
