Bespoke Commissions

Bespoke stained glass art commissions are a unique and beautiful way to elevate and add a personal touch to any space. They can provide both function and architectural purpose, as well as setting a tone and evoke emotions for those viewing the work.

When designing my art, I ensure that the process takes place as a collaborative effort between myself and my clients, so that I can deliver a piece that can truly capture your vision and compliment the space it will be created for, whilst also injecting my own skilled and experienced artistic interpretations.

COMMISION DESIGN PACKAGES:

Should you wish to explore commissioning a piece with us, there are a number of different options available to you, to either give as a personalised gift or to recapture in glass what was maybe a fleeting special memory or place for decades to come. When creating my designs, I start out using traditional sketches and 'mood boards' before transferring these into a specialist stained glass design computer software, so that an accurate quote can be prepared for you and in many cases, a computer generated mock-up of your final piece can be created.

Bespoke Designs - Ornaments / window hangings / Panels up to 30cm.

- If you would like me to design a smaller item for you based on a particular theme or place, please contact me to discuss your requirements at no cost. If this is something I can create for you, I will then work to create a draft design for you based on you brief and preferred colour scheme, followed by one iteration if you would like any changes made prior to approval.

This design service will cost between £15 - £20 depending on the size of the final piece.

Bespoke Designs - Windows / Doors / Installations

- First telephone or email conversation at no cost to discuss general requirements including time scale.

- Initial meeting face to face or by video call to discuss ideas, specifications and for me to view the space the piece is intended for.

- Provide 2 draft sketches of possible designs. Followed by up to 2 iterations based on your feedback prior to final approval.

- A colour and glass sample consultation based on the final approved design.

- Site visits available if within a 30 miles of Keswick.

- Email and telephone contact throughout design process.

This design package will cost between £50 and £70 depending on the size of your piece, research required to generate the design and if site visits are required. This fee will be higher for commercial or larger scale installations, this design fee will be higher and will be quoted for your approval before any work is commenced.

Full payment for our design service packages is required in advance to the work being completed. Purchasing one of these packages does not commit you to then go on to commission the final piece. The design fee is purely a professional consultation fee, and covers the time required to produce your design and the associated costs. Please note, the intellectual property and copyright of any designs created remains with North Lakes Stained Glass Ltd at all times.

Following the design process, a proposal will be sent to you confirming the agreed details of the project, the expected time scale, and a quote for the work and materials required to complete your piece. If you would like to go ahead and then commission the final piece, a non-refundable 50% deposit is required up front to secure your commission slot, with the remaining amount payable on completion. Depending on studio work load and the size of the commission, I aim to complete most pieces within 12 weeks of starting. Throughout this second phase of commission work, I will be in regular contact to inform you of progress and you are also welcome to also contact us at any time for updates, and can visit the studio to view the work with prior arrangement.

Prices for commission work vary depending on the complexity and size of the design, the specifications of the glass required and whether the item will need to be created using the Tiffany foiling or the older leaded light method. However, on average, prices for larger pieces begin at around £200 per square foot but if you have a set budget in mind, please inform us at the start of the design process and we will advise what is deliverable.

Installation is not included in quotes provided, and would need to either be arranged by yourselves or North Lakes Stained Glass Ltd could arrange for a sub-contractor at additional cost.
