The Tiffany Copper Foiling Technique

The Tiffany copper foiling method, developed by Louis Comfort Tiffany in the late 19th century, is a stained glass technique. This method involves wrapping the edges of individual glass pieces with thin copper foil, which is then soldered together to create a seamless, intricate design. Unlike traditional leadlight methods, the copper foil allows for finer details and more complex shapes, resulting in highly detailed and delicate patterns. This technique is particularly associated with Tiffany lamps, known for their vibrant, colorful designs and artistic craftsmanship. The Tiffany method revolutionized stained glass art, enabling greater flexibility and precision in creating decorative pieces.
