Blencathra Campervan Project

A highly unique request by a lovely couple having their beloved camper van fully converted and kitted out for new and exciting adventures!

Chris and Jo came to visit me at my studio, to talk discuss the possibility of creating an internal, integrated window for their camper van, which would allow them to view into the living quarters of the van from the front seats, so they could check in on their beloved 'tribe' of black labradors who travel with them.

Inspired by my 'signature' mountain vista discs and the purple hues, we discussed different landscape perspectives and looked at the colour ways, interior design and soft furnishings already chosen for the conversion.
As we got deeper into our talk (and after a few coffees!), we got onto the topic of the van itself and their love of outdoor adventure, and I discovered the van is named 'Blencathra' - a local landmark, challenging fell and with a distinctive 'saddle back' skyline. The outside of the van was to be embellished with the contour lines of the mountain too. It only therefore seemed fitting to model the window itself around this iconic landmark!

Over the next few weeks, I created a number of drafts for the window, with different view points, colour ways and border settings, and liaised with their chosen van conversion specialist who was to design and build the integrated frame, so that every aspect of the construction was considered.

Fabrication of the window was completed in May 2025, and the clients collected their window and delivered it to the van conversion team shortly after for fitting.
The expected completion date and reveal of the finished van is expected to be Christmas 2025, and we all can't wait to see it! Stay tuned to our social media channels and mailing list to see the update.
